A workshop about accessibility in Video Games. This workshop is a chance to rise awareness around visual impairment in video games and learn about the possible solution in game design. hosted by two professionals specialised in the field, you will get to try awareness-raising glasses, you will be introduced to digital accessibility and text-to-speech, you will test different accessibility game design solutions in groups and will discover what other indie studios came up with to a wider range of problems (phobias, memory problems, visual impairment, etc.). You will concentrate on sound and you will also work in the dark.

The workshop is hosted by :

Soufyan Ben Adberrahman : Soufyan is an experienced developer of the Eqla online library, as well as being a developer and video games enthusiast in his spare time. He is the lead developer of the Symbiose game and will be the perfect guide during this workshop to point you in the right direction when it comes to accessibility!

Philip Dupont : A programming trainer for Eqla and coordinator of the Symbiose project, Philip will be co-hosting the event and highlighting all the solutions he has found for integrating accessibility into a video game project as early as possible and avoiding wasting unnecessary time for it.

Eqla is a Belgian association which acts on a daily basis with and for blind and visually impaired people. Since 1922 and thanks to various local services, Eqla has promoted their inclusion in society by building with them solutions for autonomy and fulfillment: global and personalised support, training in new technologies, access to cultural and leisure activities. ..
Eqla also offers training and activities around visual impairment, in order to raise awareness among the general public and professionals of the realities of visual impairment.
